SARASOTA, Fla. – September 22, 2014 – 1 p.m.
On Sunday, September 21, 2014, at approximately 4 a.m., Sarasota Police officers initiated a traffic stop in the 2800 block Central Avenue in Sarasota after observing two suspects run a stop sign at 22nd Street and Leon Avenue in Sarasota.
The vehicle proceeded northbound on Central Avenue, drove through a dead end and crashed into a tree and the two suspects inside the vehicle fled on foot. Officers apprehended Tyderien Jenkins (driver) and Thomas McDuffie (passenger). A strong smell of marijuana was coming from the vehicle and after a search of the vehicle, powder cocaine (2.4 grams), crack cocaine (21.1 grams), heroin (3 grams) along with MDMA and U.S. currency ($1715) were located in the interior of the vehicle.
