SARASOTA, Fla. – October 8, 2015 – 9 a.m.
On Wednesday, Genevieve Judge, Sarasota Police Partnership Policing Communications Coordinator, received the International ‘2015 ConnectedCOPS Civilian Award of Excellence’ award presented by ConnectedCOPS.net. ConnectectCops.net is an organization dedicated to providing law enforcement agencies across the globe with resources and information in the realm of social media.
This award was given to the individual civilian member, or employee, of a law enforcement agency who singularly demonstrated overall excellence in the use of social media to improve public safety and/or enhance his or her agency’s community engagement and reputation. This individual is considered creative, innovative and shares what s/he knows by mentoring others, participating in public speaking opportunities and leading by example.
Genevieve was only one of two finalists in the United States. The other finalist was from the Shakopee Police Department in Shakopee, Minnesota. Genevieve received her award during SMILEcon (Social Media the Internet and Law Enforcement Conference) in Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada at the Niagara Regional Police Service this week. Genevieve also served as the opening presenter to the conference.
"Genevieve’s role with our Department is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Thanks to her hard work and dedication, the Sarasota Police Department is now known on an international level in the social media and law enforcement world," said Chief Bernadette DiPino. "Her work has not only resulted in cases being solved through the use of social media. Our department has been able to share the amazing stories of our Officers on a daily basis. I’m extremely proud of Genevieve’s work ethic and dedication to our department every day," said Chief DiPino.
