Sarasota Police Department Swearing-In Ceremony Friday, November 6, 2015

SARASOTA, Fla. – November 4, 2015 – 9 a.m.

On Friday, November 6, 2015, Chief Bernadette DiPino will hold a swearing-in ceremony for seven (7) new Sarasota Police Officers. The Swearing-In Ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Community Room of the Sarasota Police Department, 2099 Adams Lane, Sarasota.

"I’m thrilled to add these outstanding officers to our force," said Chief DiPino. "These officers have the qualities the Sarasota Police Department values which are professionalism, dedication and commitment to our community." The following officers join the Sarasota Police Department as 2nd Class Probation:

Officer Kevin Campbell

o Officer Kevin Campbell is a native of Sarasota and graduated from Riverview High School in 2006. In 2008, he received his Associate in Arts degree from Tallahassee Community College. In 2010, Campbell received his Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, with a minor in Psychology, from Florida State University where he also played football for three years. Before joining SPD, Officer Campbell was an officer with the Delray Beach Police Department.

Officer Frank Castro

o Officer Frank Castro was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and is bilingual in Spanish. He graduated from Tampa Bay Tech High School in 1998. In 2001, Castro joined the United States Air Force as a Paralegal. While serving as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, Castro earned two degrees, one in Paralegal Studies and the other in Aircraft Armament Systems Technology. While in the U.S. Air Force, Castro lived in Italy and Korea and was deployed to Iraq in 2007.

Officer Dianel DeArmas

o Officer Dianel DeArmas was born in Havana, Cuba and is bilingual in Spanish. He immigrated to Florida in 1998 and graduated from Hialeah High School in 2013. Officer DeArmas attended Miami-Dade College and received his AA in Criminal Justice in 2014 and is working towards his Bachelor’s Degree.

  Officer Anthony Misiti

o Officer Anthony Misiti was born in West Islip, New York, moved to Florida at age 11 and is currently a resident of Sarasota. Misiti graduated from Riverview High School in 2002, where he was the Captain of the Football Team. In 2004, he earned his EMT / Fire Science certification from Sarasota County Technical Institute.

Officer Matthew Plough

o Officer Matthew Plough was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey and graduated from North Port High School in Sarasota County in 2008. In 2012, Plough earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from the University of South Florida. Before joining SPD, Plough worked as a Police Officer with the Daytona Beach Police Department.

Officer Anthony Pullara

o Officer Anthony Pullara was born and raised in Florida and graduated from Plant City High School in 2013. Pullara is an Eagle Scout and as always had an interest in law enforcement. He’s been inspired to pursue a career in law enforcement to give back and make a difference in people’s lives.

Officer Brandon Vermillion

o Officer Brandon Vermillion was born in Los Angeles, California and moved to Florida with his family in 2004. He’s a 2008 graduate of Lakewood Ranch High School and earned his AA Degree from State College of Florida in 2010 and his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from the University of South Florida in 2012. Before joining SPD, Officer Vermillion spent two years as a Citizens Patrol Volunteer with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
