SARASOTA, Fla. – June 1, 2015 – 8:30 a.m.
The Sarasota Police Department will be holding community basketball game on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 7 p.m. at Booker High School, 3201 North Orange Avenue, Sarasota. The game will feature the Booker High Boys Varsity basketball team challenging officers of the Sarasota Police Department.
"The game is in an effort to continue the community outreach by the Sarasota Police Department. We want to continue to develop trust and communication within our community," said Chief Bernadette DiPino. "This will be a rewarding experience for the students and faculty of Booker High, our officers and our community. Our goal is to help our youth become more comfortable interacting with officers and provide much needed funds to the Booker High Athletic Department."
100% of the proceeds from the game will go to benefit the Athletic Department of Booker High School. There will be a $5 entry at the door. Sarasota Police Sergeant Eric Bolden is seeking donations from businesses and/or individuals who are interested in supporting the tournament.
