SARASOTA, Fla -- July 14, 2015 -- 1:30 p.m.

Today at approximately 7:45 a.m., a 10-year-old girl was at her school bus stop for summer school at 24th Street and Dixie Avenue in Sarasota with three other children.  They were approached by a male in a silver car, asked them strange questions and offered money.  The 10-year-old left the bus stop and returned home to tell her mother what happened.  At this time, there is no crime but Officers would like to speak to the male passenger who spoke with the children.

The mother called Sarasota Police and several Officers responded.  The 10-year-old told Officers she was waiting at the bus stop when the car, believed to be a 4-door Hyundai, pulled up.  The girl told Officers the front passenger window was rolled down and a black male was in the front passenger seat.

The girl said the passenger asked the children if they were waiting for the bus, asked if they had eaten breakfast and then held $2 out the window and offered it to the children in which the children said no.  The vehicle backed up several feet and the passenger held out a $5 bill and asked the 10-year-old directly if she wanted it and she said no.  The vehicle left the area and was last seen heading south on Dixie Avenue.

The passenger who spoke with the children has been described as a black male in his 30s with short hair and wearing a black t-shirt.  The passenger never left the vehicle and none of the children approached the vehicle.

Several photos of the vehicle in question are attached.  Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Sarasota Police Department at 941-316-1199 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling 941-366-TIPS (8477) or online at www.sarasotacrimestoppers.com
