Attempt to Identify Vandalism Suspect Caught on Camera

 

SARASOTA, Fla. – January 27, 2016 – 1 p.m.

Detectives with the Sarasota Police Department are asking for the public’s help in identifying a male suspect, possibly a juvenile, who was caught on camera throwing a skateboard and damaging an elevator door of the new State Street Parking Garage, 1538 State Street, Sarasota, on January 12, 2016.

Detectives met with the City of Sarasota Parking Manager after video was reviewed from January 12, 2016. The video shows several males, skateboarding in the garage. At approximately 7:50 p.m., the suspect in question is seen aiming and then throwing his skateboard into the door several times. This caused damage to the outer skin of the elevator door. The cost of the damage to the door is estimated to be between $5,000 and $8,000. Video of the vandalism can be viewed at https://youtu.be/U3FYcMws_lA
