Bradenton Man Charged with 4 counts of DUI following Morning Crash

SARASOTA, Fla. -- June 24, 2016 -- 12:30 p.m.

This morning at approximately 8 a.m., Sarasota Police Officers responded to the intersection of 10th Street and Central Avenue, Sarasota, for a three vehicle crash involving a vehicle, tow truck and 18-wheeler.

The tow truck, driven by Michael Aprill, date of birth 12/27/1978, of Bradenton, was driving westbound on 10th Street when it rear ended a green Toyota.  The Toyota crashed into a nearby cement pole.  The driver of the Toyota was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

 The tow truck continued westbound on 10th Street and then rear-ended an 18-wheeler.  During the crashes, diesel fuel was leaked from the tow truck causing the westbound lanes of 10th Street to be closed for about an hour.

Aprill has two warrants for uttering a forged instrument (fraud).  He was arrested and charged with three (3) counts of DUI with property damage, one (1) count of DUI personal injury and received a citation for driving with a license suspended without knowledge.
