Ashley Parker found guilty of Attempted First Degree Murder & other felony charges

SARASOTA, Fla. -- September 23, 2016 -- 3 p.m.

Ashley Parker, 31, of Sarasota, was found guilty on four felony counts this afternoon: Attempted First Degree Murder with a Deadly Weapon, two (2) counts of Aggravated Child Abuse and Resisting an Officer with Violence in connection to the attempted drowning and stabbing of her 6-year-old daughter in June 2015.

“The outcome on this case is a result the hard work and dedication by lead Detective Maria Llovio, Patrol Officers Ken Goebel and Steve Mayforth and our entire Criminal Investigations Team including our Criminalistics Unit.  This case also had the outcome it did thanks to our partnership with the State Attorney’s Office and Prosecutors Andrea McHugh and Karen Fraivillig” said Captain Corinne Stannish, Criminal Investigations Division, Sarasota Police Department. 

On June 26, 2015, Sarasota Police Officers responded to the 2100 block of Leon Avenue, Sarasota, to assist EMTs who were on scene reference a 6-year-old child who had been held underwater and stabbed.  The 6-year-old child was Parker’s daughter.  The child was taken to All Children’s Hospital and later recovered from her injuries.

Sentencing for Parker is scheduled for November 2, 2016 at 9 a.m.
