Sarasota Police to Host Tweet from the Beat on Friday

SARASOTA, Fla. -- September 28, 2016 -- 2:30 p.m.

The Sarasota Police Department is taking you on another virtual ride-along.  On Friday, the Sarasota Police Department will host another ‘Tweet from the Beat.’  The tweet-along is set for Friday, September 30, 2016 beginning at 1 p.m.

This ‘Tweet from the Beat’ is also in conjunction with the sixth Global Tweet-A-Thon by LaWs Communications.  The Global Tweet-A-Thon is where law enforcement agencies from around the world will be taking part in their own ‘Tweet from the Beat’ by using the hashtag #PolTwt (which stands for ‘police tweet.’).  The Global Tweet-A-Thon is a way to connect law enforcement around the world and build relationships between police and the citizens they serve.

To join the Sarasota Police Department in our virtual ride-along:  If you already have a Twitter account, follow the Sarasota Police Department at the handle @SarasotaPD.  If you aren’t on Twitter, you can go to and sign up.  It’s easy, quick and free.  Once you create an account, follow us @SarasotaPD.

Throughout the day, day shift and night shift Officers will share what they see and do through texts, videos, GIFs and photos as the Partnership Policing Communications Coordinator tweets on behalf of the Officers.  People following @SarasotaPD will be able to ask questions and interact with Officers on the road.

The Sarasota Police Department began ‘Tweet from the Beat’ in November 2013.
