City of Sarasota residents encouraged to sign up for Emergency Notification System

SARASOTA, FL. – February 3, 2017   – 2 p.m.

The Sarasota Police Department is encouraging City of Sarasota residents to sign up for the Emergency Notification System called Rapid Notify.  This is a free Emergency Notification System and often referred to as “Reverse 911.”  It can alert residents and provide important information during emergency events.

Residents are able to sign up at http://sarasotagov.org/ENS.cfm

As part of our continuing effort to reach out to the citizens of the City of Sarasota, we will be conducting a drill of the system on February 14th at 10:00 a.m. The residents of Lido and St. Armand’s Keys were selected to be our geographical area of the test due to the vulnerability of the coastline in that area.

Subscribers to the system will be notified by the information they have provided to Rapid Notify, whether it’s email, text or phone call.  This is a test of the notification system “Rapid Notify” and will NOT require any action on the part of our residents.
