Search warrant leads to seizure of cocaine, marijuana, prescription pills & ammunition

SARASOTA, FL. – July 13, 2017   – 1:30 p.m.

On Friday, July 7, 2017, the Sarasota Police Department Narcotics Unit, SWAT Team, Patrol Division and Street Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at 1738 23rd Street, Sarasota.  The search warrant was conducted after reports of drug sales were reported by residents in the neighborhood.

Officers seized:

·       165 grams of marijuana
·       33.7 grams of cocaine
·       51 oxycodone pills
·       7 morphine pills
·       Gun magazine with ammunition
·       Storage/cargo trailer

Donnie Brinson, 26, of Bradenton, was on the property at the time of the search warrant.  Officers located approximately 60 grams of marijuana in the vehicle, $437.25 in U.S. currency on Brinson and a small digital scale.

1738 23rd Street is located 400 feet from an Early Learning Center.  Brinson was charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to sell within 1000 feet of a school (felony) and Possession of Paraphernalia (misdemeanor).

This investigation continues pending results of latent evidence collected from the various items seized.  Additional charges for other individuals are possible.
