UPDATE: Suspicious Death Now a Homicide Investigation

SARASOTA, Fla. -- August 31, 2017 -- 1:20 p.m.

Detectives with the Sarasota Police Department have determined the suspicious death that occurred on August 28, 2017 near the intersection of 22nd Street and Palmadelia Avenue, Sarasota, is now a homicide.

The victim who was deceased on scene has been identified as Travis Combs, age 31.  His next of kin has been notified.  Again, there is no information that would indicate there is a threat to the public reference this incident.


The investigation remains active and ongoing at this time.  Detectives are not ready to release additional information but are asking if anyone in the public has any information regarding this case to call Detective Kim Laster at 941-364-7327 or Crimestoppers at 941-366-TIPS.

Subject: Suspicious Death Investigation

On August 28, 2017 at approximately 2120 hours, the Sarasota Police Department responded to the area of 22nd Street and Palmadelia Avenue reference a deceased male. 

Detectives are treating the cause of death as suspicious and are working to confirm the identity of the subject. 

At this time, we have no information that would indicate there is a threat to public safety reference this incident. 

This is an active and ongoing investigation.  Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Detective Kim Laster at 941-364-7327.
