Sarasota man arrested & charged with 11 counts of Possession of Child Pornography

SARASOTA, FL  – February 23, 2018   – 10:30 a.m.

Onur Ucer, 54, of Sarasota, has been arrested and charged with 11 counts of Possession of Child Pornography after a search warrant was executed at Ucer’s home, 719 South Shade Avenue, Unit B, Sarasota, on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.

Detectives with the Sarasota Police Department were assisted by agents with the FBI and the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force after pornography images involving children were downloaded.  Sarasota Police received information that Ucer was downloading the images through various file sharing sites through the Internet.

Numerous DVDs, CDs. VHS tapes, hard drives, laptop computers, desktop computer tower and two cell phones were collected from the garage apartment as evidence.  Detectives conducted a preview of one of the hard drives and located images and videos of child pornography.  The images and videos were specifically labeled and organized into folders.  Detectives estimate there were thousands of videos and photos downloaded between October 2017 and January 2018.

Ucer was arrested and transported to the Sarasota County Jail where he’s currently being held on a $165,000 bond ($15,000 bond for each charge).  This investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible.
