SARASOTA, FL - March 12, 2018 - 9:30 a.m.
Thanks to a generous donation from Boar’s Head Brand®, the Sarasota Police Department is welcoming a new K9 (see photos attached). K9 Bobbi is a two-year-old German Shepard from Slovakia who was born December 2015. She’s a single-purpose bomb odor detection K9 who is trained in finding explosive materials and devices.
Boar’s Head Brand® partnered with the Sarasota Police Department and provided a donation to sponsor the purchase of K9 Bobbi. The donation made it possible to make proper modifications to a patrol car for a K9, training for a handler and the purchase of needed supplies. K9 Bobbi will be paired with Sarasota Police Patrol Officer Adam Arena and will be assigned to night shift.
Elizabeth Ward, Senior Director of Marketing for Boar’s Head Brand® said, “We are proud to call Sarasota home. As a company, we believe in giving back to the communities where we live and work, and keeping them safe. We recognize the vital role the Sarasota Police Department K9 Unit plays in protecting our police force and our local area. We’re honored to be able to sponsor K9 Bobbi and look forward to the tremendous service she will provide Sarasota.
Officer Arena, K9 Bobbi’s handler said, “Bobbi never wants to stop working. She’s a fun, playful, loving dog with a second to none high energy drive to keep the City of Sarasota a safe place to live, work and play.”
K9 Bobbi is one of four Sarasota Police Department K9s.
