Miami man arrested following shooting on Lido Beach Sunday evening

SARASOTA, FL  – April 23, 2018   – 12:30 p.m.

Ransiel F. Pages-Cajuso, 27, of Miami, has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies following an altercation and shooting that occurred near the Lido Beach public parking lot on Sunday evening.

On Sunday, April 22, 2018, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Sarasota Police Officers responded to 400 Ben Franklin Drive due to reports of a fight and shots fired.  Several individuals were transported to the Sarasota Police Department to be interviewed and several other individuals were transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment and released.  Injuries sustained to those involved were due to the physical altercation, not the firing of the handgun.

Several witnesses told Detectives they observed several subjects in a physical altercation.  During the altercation, Pages-Cajuso pointed a chrome/silver semi-automatic handgun at two victims and fired several times.  Neither of the victims were injured.

When Officers arrived, the scene was secure and Pages-Cajuso was placed into custody.  Pages-Cajuso has two felony convictions including Driving with a Suspended License with Knowledge & Possession of Cocaine (Miami-Dade Police Department, 2010) and Grand Theft (Hialeah Police Department, 2009).

Based on their investigation, the Sarasota Police Department charged Pages-Cajuso with:

·         Two (2) counts of Aggravated Assault (felony)

·         Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (felony)

Pages-Cajuso is being held at the Sarasota County Jail on $7,500 bond for the possession of a firearm and no bond for the aggravated assault charges.
