Sarasota Police to host Marine Patrol Edition of ‘Tweet from the Beat’ on Friday

SARASOTA, FL  – April 25, 2018   – 1 p.m.

The Sarasota Police Department is taking you on another virtual ride-along.  On Friday, the Sarasota Police Department will be hosting a Marine Patrol edition of ‘Tweet from the Beat.’

This ‘Tweet from the Beat’ is also in conjunction with the seventh Global Tweet-A-Thon by LaWs Communications.  This Global Tweet-A-Thon is where law enforcement agencies from around the world will be taking part in their own ‘Tweet from the Beat’ by using the hashtag #PolTwt (which stands for ‘police tweet.’).  The Global Tweet-A-Thon is a way for law enforcement agencies globally build relationships with the communities they serve.

On Friday, April 27, 2018 beginning at 9 a.m., Marine Patrol Officer Michael Skinner will share what he says and does through texts, videos, GIFs and photos while on the water.  The Sarasota Police Department Partnership Policing Communications Coordinator will be tweeting on behalf of Officer Skinner.

“We’re fortunate to have boating weather nearly year round in the City of Sarasota.  However, this is the time of year that we start to see boat traffic increase on the water and people begin to prepare their boats for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday,” said Officer Skinner.  “Carelessness and not paying attention are the leading causes of boating accidents.  We want to keep boaters, their families and friends safe.”
