Sarasota Police to hold free Blue + You Movie Night to Kick-Off a Safe and Sustainable Summer

SARASOTA, FL  – May 18, 2018   – 1 p.m.

On June 9, 2018, the Sarasota Police Department, in conjunction with numerous community organizations, will be hosting a family free community event and ‘Blue + You’ movie night to officially kick-off a safe and sustainable summer.  It’s all happening at Sarasota Police Headquarters, 2099 Adams Lane, Sarasota.

The free family event starts at 7:30 p.m. with educational booths from Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium, Audubon Florida, Save Our Seabirds and Florida Fish and Wildlife.  There will be hands-on activities, crafts and displays from the Sarasota Police Marine Patrol, Crime Prevention, Cub Scouts, Coast Guard Auxiliary, City of Sarasota Sustainability Program, Whole Foods, Sea Turtle Conservation and Research Program and more.  The ‘Blue + You’ movie “Deep” will begin at 8:30 p.m. on the west lawn of police headquarters.

As the July 4th holiday and Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix Festival approaches, it’s important to share the message of environmental awareness, protection of marine and bird species and boating safety with our community.  Everyone is invited to the free ‘Blue + You’ family community event and movie night.  Moviegoers are invited to bring blankets, chairs and invite neighbors, family and friends.  Complimentary free healthy snacks and drinks will be provided.

‘Blue + You’ is an initiative that honors the community and connects them with the Sarasota Police Department.  The Sarasota Police Department ‘Blue + You’ Movie Series began in April 2014.
