Arrest made in weekend shooting and death

SARASOTA, FL  – June 6, 2018   – 9:45 a.m.

Anariest J. Taylor, 17, of 1912 North Orange Avenue, Apt. #20, Sarasota, has been arrested and charged with murder with a firearm following a shooting on Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday, June 3, 2018, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Patrol Officers with the Sarasota Police Department responded to the 2500 block of Lemon Avenue in reference to a call of shots fired.  When officers arrived, they spoke with witnesses who said they heard gun shots and saw two males in a car who appeared to be shooting at a third male who was running from the car.  Immediately following the shooting, the two males fled the area in the car and the third male fled on foot.

Subsequent investigation by Sarasota Police Detectives led them to identify Taylor as the suspect in the shooting.  Drugs are believed to have been a factor in the shooting.
