Help Sarasota Police ‘Pack the Patrol Car’ with School Supplies

SARASOTA, FL  – July 23, 2018   – 8:45 a.m.

Students in Sarasota return to school on August 13, 2018.  Before students head back to class, the Sarasota Police Department wants the help of the community to ‘Pack the Patrol Car’ with school supplies for the upcoming school year. 

Sarasota Police Officers are accepting school supplies now until Noon on Friday, August 10, 2018 for the second annual ‘Pack the Patrol Car.’  School supply donations can be dropped off from 6 a.m. – 9 p.m. in the lobby of the Sarasota Police Department, 2099 Adams Lane, Sarasota.  During the inaugural ‘Pack the Patrol Car’ event in 2017, more than 2,300 school supplies were donated by the community.  Video from the 2017 event can be found at

Following the ‘Pack the Patrol Car’ event, Sarasota Police Officers will deliver all donated school supplies to the 3rd Annual Unity in the Community Event at the Newtown Estates Park, 2800 Newtown Blvd., Sunday, August 12, 2018.  School supplies will be distributed to students by the Barbershop Men of Prayer Group between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. on August 12th.

Officers are accepting school supplies for all ages and grade levels to include backpacks, pencils, pens, highlighters, boxes of  Kleenex, small bottles of hand sanitizer,  folders, notebooks , glue, markers, crayons, erasers, notebook paper.  Event volunteers will breakdown all donations by grade level and distribute these items as needed to each student.
