Sarasota Police Chief’s Daughter Injured in Maryland

SARASOTA, FL –  May 3, 2019  –  12:30 p.m.

The Sarasota Police Department appreciates the outpouring of prayers, support and thoughts that have been sent for Chief Bernadette DiPino and her family.

The Sarasota Police Department asks that any media requests for information regarding the Officer involved or the specific information about the call for service be directed to the Baltimore County Police Department Office of Media and Communications at 410-887-2210.

On Thursday, May 2, 2019, Chief DiPino’s daughter, an Officer with the Baltimore County Police Department in Maryland, was shot in the line of duty.  She was seriously injured and transported to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center where she remains under the care of doctors.  According to the Baltimore County Police Department, the injuries sustained by the Officer are non-life threatening and she is currently in stable condition.

Chief DiPino is in Maryland with her daughter and family.  The Sarasota Police Department continues to ask that the Chief’s privacy to be respected during this difficult time.

Earlier today, Thursday, May 2, 2019, Sarasota Police Chief Bernadette DiPino was notified that her daughter, an Officer with the Baltimore County Police Department in Maryland, was shot in the line of duty.  She was seriously injured and transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where she is currently undergoing surgery.

Chief DiPino is in Maryland with her daughter and family.  The Sarasota Police Department asks for the Chief’s privacy to be respected during this difficult time.

The Sarasota Police Department asks that any media requests be directed to the Baltimore County Police Department regarding the situation that led to the Officer being injured.
