SARASOTA - On Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Sarasota Police Department is joining the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for the 29th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This event gives the public a safe, anonymous way to get rid of unneeded medications including pills, capsules, patches and other solid prescription drugs.

For 16 years, Take Back Day has helped Americans prevent prescription drug misuse by safely removing expired, unwanted, or unused medications from homes.

What: National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

When: Saturday, October 25, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

Who: Sarasota Police Department in partnership with the DEA

Where:

  • Sarasota Police Department, 2099 Adams Lane, Sarasota.
  • Caring Collective, 1750 17th St, Sarasota.

Thanks to events like this, local law enforcement and the DEA have collected and safely disposed of more than 19.8 million pounds of medications nationwide. The Sarasota Police Department also has a permanent drop box in the lobby of headquarters, open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
